Viney's Farm, Solstice Park extension and High Post omitted from Local Plan
After strong local opposition, and a campaign of emails and protests, the proposed Solstice Park Extension a housing development for 840 new houses on the banks of the River Avon at Viney's Farm, south of Amesbury and two large sites at High Post have been omitted from the new Local Plan for the area.
This should mean that greenfield sites around Amesbury are now safe from development for the foreseeable future and potentially until at least 2038, which is when the new Local Plan period expires. The process is not yet complete, as the landowners can apply to argue their case before the planning inspector, but this only rarely results in changes.
If representations are made on behalf of the landowners, Sustainable Amesbury has vowed to ensure that Wiltshire Council is armed with all the arguments needed to rebut any objections to the draft plan made to the inspector.
