Wiltshire Council's timetable for adoption of draft Local plan slips

The timetable for adoption of the new local plan has slipped by about nine months.

The draft local plan, approved by Wiltshire council, will not now be in the hands of the Secretary of State and the appointed inspector until the fourth quarter of 2024, which is later than the initial date in June. The plan is expected to be adopted in the third quarter of 2025, about nine months after the original date in December 2024 see this article on the Wiltshire Council web site.

Once the Plan is submitted, the examination is in the hands of an independent Planning Inspector who will ultimately lead proceedings and therefore determine how long the examination process takes. We will know who the Inspector will be when the plan has been submitted.

The revised timetable is available on our Planning process page.
